This is a replica of the bronzed boxing glove presented to the Jewish community of Michigan to mark the historic defeat of Max Schmeling by Joe Louis on June 22, 1938.
Schmeling was Hitler’s champion – the fight became known as “The Glove That Floored Nazi Germany’ The proposal would be unveiled 70 years to the day with a prize fight taking place in the square.
