The caves at Lascaux lasted undiscovered for 16,000 years. They were discovered in 1940 by four french teenagers and their dog, Robot. In just 28 years the caves were closed because of carbon dioxide causing the paintings to disapear. A Upper Paleolithic litmus paper?
